Loving the blog Anna Banana...it's so YOU! What's the weather like there? Looks hot, but rainy, dry, both??? I see you don't have to wear dresses as we did in South Africa, which is nice for walking through the brush and jungle. Are there alligators there? Keep up the good work you are doing on the blog and at the site. Love and a big virtual hug! Geri
RépondreSupprimerGeri! Thanks for reading it! I'm never sure if anyone looks at this or not unless they tell me directly so thanks for the feedback!
RépondreSupprimerIt's actually not nearly as hot as I thought it would be. Gamba is really close to the coast, and there's a big lagoon and lots of lakes nearby. It's also the dry season so it's not as hot or humid as it usually is here, which is fine by me. On the daily I'd say it's about 75 degrees, but it depends on the humidity, time of day, etc. I think it's hotter in Eugene than it is here right now.
I wear dresses in the evening or for events and whatnot, but for out in the field (which I guess are the majority of photos on here) it's hiking shoes, pants, and long sleeves. Lots of ants and tics that would like to snuggle in with you. I actually just decided that I'm going to buy a dress here, they have a lot of really beautiful colorful fabric stores here and you go in and get measured and then they can make you tailored shirts, dresses, etc. for about 10,000 CFA (500 CFA = $1.00).
And there are crocodiles here! I actually just went hunting for crocodiles the other night (not for killing, for monitoring) with a couple of researchers. But I was scared the whole time that we were going to run in to an elephant or a hippo.
Anyways thanks for reading! Love you lots Geri! Hope your summer is swell so far.
